We now have more details about the charges against the city of Frederick's former golf course manager. Police say he contracted with a private company to buy used golf balls from the private course, and then he pocketed the money from that company. They also say he pocketed money from sales of golf grips. Read this story to learn more.
Also, the city has now fired the head of its parks and recreation department, who was in charge of overseeing management of the golf course.
Still no word from the mayor on what this means for the city.

There's now an update to this post I wrote when the manager of the city of Frederick's golf course resigned. This is a story I originally broke in March and worked on until May, when my beat changed at The Frederick News-Post. Other reporters are now covering.
The news this week was the former manager is being charged with four counts of theft, according to online court documents. We'll know more soon.

Here is my story from March when I first got documents showing possible employee theft at the course.
Here is my story from April when I received more documents and data through a public information request that showed that the golf course manager didn't pay the city back for advertising expenses for his private lessons on the course.
And here is our story from May, when he resigned.
