Starting in this new gig, I've heard that it might be hard for me to get a lot of (or any) one-on-one time with Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. That's unfortunate, as I know people in Frederick have a lot of questions for him, as do I.
Luckily, an event drew him to Frederick last week and I was able to ask him a few questions after about issues specific to Frederick. It was a great opportunity, as it's normally hard to get these kind of questions in when in a press pool surrounded by people from big name papers.
The day before that, I was in Annapolis for the first time on this beat watching the governor sign bills important to Frederick County, and talking to senators/delegates/supporters about what's next. I'm sure everyone got a kick out of watching me run around the State House trying to figure out who was who. But hey, no shame.
